The ED/EDA series of standard index drives are based on a precision
barrel cam mechanism design which provides excellent positioning
accuracy and refined motion profiles to ensure smooth progress between
stations. Standard mechanism designs provide a choice of 2 to 24
stations. EDL versions have the advantage of lower overall heights.
The drive system used on the smaller ED units incorporate a worm
gear mechanism built into the housing which is belt driven from
an externally mounted brake motor. Convenient access to this arrangement
enables index times to be easily refined by changing the belt pulley
ratios. Larger units have a spur gear arrangement replacing the
worm gear drive.
EDA versions use a C-flange mounting on the side of the housing
allowing the use of a proprietary worm geared brake motor assembly
driving direct onto the indexer camshaft. This provides a compact
design package but no easy facility to change speeds.
All units have a heavy duty output table supported on a quality
bearing matched specially to Expert requirements. A central access
hole enables services to be routed conveniently to the table top.
Mechanical or Inductive switch arrangements can be supplied on
request fitted to the indexer to give appropriate signals for position
and direction.
