Conjugate Cam or parallel shaft index drives are the most suitable
systems for ultra high speed indexing. Up to 1000 indexes per minute
are feasible. The inherent design of these mechanisms eliminate
reversal of roller follower direction, present in other designs
during the indexing sequence, thus removing any tendency for overheating
and subsequent unwanted wear of cam surfaces.
Parallel shaft units are not suitable for high numbers of stations.
One-station units are feasible with a maximum of eight. Six and
eight station units incorporate a type two-mechanism design which
provides two indexes and two dwells for each input shaft rotation.
Hence for a given index rate the input shaft of type two units should
be driven at half speed.
Various standard cam designs are available offering different ratios
of motion to dwell for one complete input shaft rotation. Specials
and Oscillating Mechanisms can be engineered to suit specific requirements.
All units in this range can be supplied fitted with a geared motor
assembly suitable for index on demand applications or continuous
running. Optional motor specifications to suit customers' requirements
can be specified.
Mechanical or Inductive switch arrangements can be supplied on
request fitted to the indexer to give appropriate signals for position
and end of index.
